Welcome to Great Oak Farm
Great Oak Farm is a family-run farm based in Hurstpierpoint, Sussex. We have a vegetable garden where we grow our organic produce from seed, and we also care for many chickens and a flock of sheep. We provide a weekly home education session where children can learn about sustainable farming, animal care, organic gardening, and develop a thoughtful understanding of where food comes from, including the role of animals in farming and eating animals in a respectful, ethical way. Our smallholding is the perfect setting for hands-on learning and connecting with nature.
Our Approach to Education
At Great Oak Farm, we believe in learning through experience. We encourage curiosity, creativity, and a deep respect for the environment. We have a strong emphasis on relationships, collaboration and building a community, which is at the heart of everything we do.
Our smallholding journey
Great Oak Farm began as just three fields and some trees. As a home educating family ourselves, we were passionate to fill the farm with life and make it a place where our children can grow and develop a love for farming. We are passionate about sharing our knowledge of sustainable living and fostering a community that values self-sufficiency and holistic well-being.
